Microosoft Zune HD arrives

Finally, Microsoft has released much awaited Zune HD music player. The new player sports 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen, HD radio, HD video out and Wi-FiZune HD is available at $220 (Rs. 10,600 approx.) for 16GB black and $290 (Rs. 13,900 approx.) for 32GB platinum model.  








Zune HD will also have games as well as applications and Microsoft confirmed that Twitter and Facebook apps will come later this year. At the moment Zune HD comes with three games Project Gotham Racing: Ferrari Edition, Vans Sk8: Pool Service and Audiosurf Tilt. Zune Apps are free and can be downloaded from Apps catalog in Zune 4.0 software



The Windows CE-based interface offers new Quickplay menu that allows instant access to the favorite music, video and other stuff. Just like Apple introduced Genius Mixes, Microsoft brought Smart DJ feature that automatically creates playlist of music from user's collection as well as the Zune Marketplace music. 



Zune HD has touchscreen Internet Explorer mobile browser, the same that will arrive with windows mobile 6.5 operating system .
  

When synced with PC, Zune HD will automatically pull music artist information, album artwork. Music can be streamed directly from the music store and is also capable of syncing media wirelessly. Apparently, Zune HD supports only 802.11b/g wireless standards while third generation iPod Touch supports 802.11 b/g/n wireless standards. High-definition video can be synced to a HDTV display using new Zune AV dock which is sold separately.

Microsoft announced Zune Video service for 17 international markets which will be available later this fall. Zune Video will allow Xbox LIVE users to purchase, download and play full HD movies and TV Shows across all three platforms - Xbox, PC and Zune HD. Zune will also enable download or stream choice from Xbox LIVE in full 1080p HD with 5.1 surround sound.

Microsoft Zune 4.0 software teardown revealed four other colors of Zune HD - Pink, Purple, Magenta and Atomic. But it isn't official whether Microsoft will be selling Zune HD in these colors.
